HONOR X9d 5G

Date

The HONOR X9 series is known for its tough build, above-average mid-range specs, and competitive pricing. And just recently, they launched its latest model sporting a 6.79-inch AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, 108MP AI main camera, and a crazy 8,300mAh battery – all housed in a body that is tougher than before. Let’s take a look at the new HONOR X9d 5G.

One of the things you’ll notice about the HONOR X9d 5G is the design. The model we have on hand is the Reddish Brown, which takes inspiration from polished clay. The back panel has leather-like texture and look, which we really like as it’s not prone to fingerprint or smudges.

Adding to the premium look is the gold frame and accents, which is a great combo to the Reddish Brown color. If it reminds you of Iron Man, you’re not alone. It’s plastic, but still feels premium. Even though glamorous in appeal, this device packs IP69K dust and water resistance. That 9K means it can withstand high-pressure and high-temperature water jets. I don’t know why it should have that but if you’re planning to clean the HONOR X9d 5G using a dishwasher, you probably could. HONOR even claims it can even survive high-humidity, salt-rich environments for 24 hours which is impressive.

It’s a large device with a decent chunk at 7.76mm but a bit hefty at 193g. But given its massive 8,300mAh battery, it actually feels lighter than it should. We have a typical screen size of 6.79-inches but has a resolution of 2640 x 120, sports an AMOLED panel that is capable of 6000 nits brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, and is protected by aluminosilicate glass (Gorilla Glass is also a type of aluminosilicate glass) which is a high-performance glass known for its strength, durability, and thermal resistance. It’s a beautiful screen that really pops out.

So yeah, it’s a tough phone, but it’s also good at taking photos, thanks to the 108MP main camera with F1.75 aperture and OIS. It’s coupled with a 5MP wide, and a 16MP on the front. In addition to that, it’s packed with AI features like AI Eraser, AI Eyes Open, AI Remove Reflection, AI Cutout, and AI Upscale. And given its water resistance, yes, you can definitely shoot underwater and event has an Underwater Photo Mode so you can easily capture those moments with clarity, detail, and accurate colors.

Powering the HONOR X9d 5G is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip with Adreno A810 GPU, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of non-expandable storage. Keeping things cool is HONOR’s VC Ice Cooling System that features 5th-gen hexagonal graphite with ultra light stainless steel. Performance-wise, it can smoothly handle heavy social media usage and multimedia consumption. You can game on it but it’s recommended you put the graphics settings to medium.

Battery life isn’t an issue with this device at 8,300mAh. You can probably forget about charging it for two days. It even supports reverse charging which is great for accessories like TWS headphones. Charging the device itself is quick thanks to the 66W HONOR Supercharge.

Another impressive thing about the HONOR X9d 5G is the price. At PHP 18,999 (https://s.shopee.ph/6pudA6pSZ5), this is probably the most rugged sub-PHP 20K phone out there with capable cameras and long battery life. If they used a more powerful chipset, it could have been the best mid-range gaming phone out there for the price but we’re probably asking too much. Still, if you’re on a budget, we’re glad to let you know that this phone exists and worth considering.
