Last month, HONOR released the HONOR 90 5G, delivering great features for something priced under PHP 25K. Now, its more affordable sibling is here, the HONOR 90 Lite 5G. Although it has the word “Lite” in its name, it follows the footsteps of its bigger brother.
Starting with the design, the HONOR 90 Lite 5G looks different from the HONOR 90 5G. Instead of having a curved display and frame, it sports an industrial iPhone 5-like design with flat frames, glass, and back panel. There’s nothing wrong with it. It still looks good and the design makes it easy to grip given its tall frame.
For the screen, we have the 6.7-inch FHD+ (2388 x 1080) LTPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate. HONOR also boasts Dynamic Dimming and TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification, which means it’s less straining in the eyes in prolonged use. Even though it has a hole-punch for the 16MP selfie camera, the screen is immersive thanks to its slim bezels at the top and sides. The vibrant colors and wide viewing angles are also suitable for watching videos and playing games.
The cameras are one of the main features of the HONOR 90 Lite 5G with a 100MP main, 5MP ultra-wide and depth, and a 2MP macro. While the latter two don’t have much to offer in terms of resolution, the main camera is capable of producing good photos. However, if you want to take advantage of the 100MP resolution, you’ll have to shoot in ‘High-Res’ mode.
Powering the HONOR 90 Lite 5G is a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 5G chipset with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery. I’m happy to see this hardware configuration in a smartphone in this price range and considered as ‘Lite.’ Pormance is great, and we could play a few rounds of Farlight 84 in HD graphics settings and 60fps. However, it doesn’t support Ultra and Extreme settings.
The HONOR 90 Lite 5G is priced at PHP 12,990 (Shopee). It’s a reasonable price, although it will surely face some competition from other brands in the same price range. Still, for that amount, you’ll get a phone with a nice design and screen, a decent set of cameras, 5G connectivity, and good performance. Again, it’s ‘lite’ on paper but heavy on the features.
