HUAWEI Watch 4

If you’re into smartwatches, especially those with good health monitoring features, it will be difficult not to include HUAWEI in the discussion. The brand is consistent when it comes to updating its wearable line that they have a model for different demographics: from kids smartwatches to classy dive smartwatches plated in gold. Sitting right in the middle is the HUAWEI Watch Series and their latest is called the HUAWEI Watch 4.

Design-wise, the HUAWEI Watch 4 is for those who want a smartwatch that would look good on any occasion. It features a glossy 316L stainless steel case and a 3D glass that curves nicely towards the edges. It is shaped so nicely that it doesn’t appear inclined towards any gender. The ladies and the gents will find this attractive. Plus, there are plenty of watch faces to choose from.

It’s classy and sporty as well. The Rotating Crown resembles that of a classic watch and also functions as a Home Button and to helping you navigate its apps. Just below it is the Side Button that gives you quick access to health features and the ECG. The Black Fluoroelastomer Strap is durable and can certainly handle some outdoor fun but at the same time, it’s smooth and comfortable for a whole day’s use. If you want to take it diving, you may do so as it has a 5ATM and IP6X water and dust resistance with support for free diving up to 30m.

We also love the screen on the HUAWEI Watch 4. It uses a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with 466 x 466 resolution or 310ppi resulting in sharp and punchy images. Combine that with a hi-res watch face and you’ll get a cool timepiece.

For its features, the usual health monitoring features are here like heart rate, SpO2 level, skin temperature, and sleep. ECG is also here which is one of the things that make HUAWEI’s smartwatches special but they have taken it up a notch by including Arterial Stiffness Detection and PPG Arrhythmia Analysis which means it can discover if your heart is having problems, physically.

Another new feature is the Respiratory Check. All you need to do is cough on the watch and it will assess if there’s something wrong with your lungs. If you use the One-click Health Glance feature, the HUAWEI Watch 4 will use all those health sensors to gather data and the HUAWEI Health App to give you an overview of your current health. Furthermore, it also now has Fall Detection and SOS feature which can give you some peace of mind that a call for help will be sent out in case of emergencies. And yes, the watch can make a call and send text messages as it supports eSIM One number and eSIM Standalone Number.

Lastly, the smartwatch still comes with sports and activity tracking with 100+ workout modes, including niche outdoor activities like free dives and hikes, as well as mountain hiking with real-time location tracking with the ability to help you route your way back in case you get lost.

Battery-wise, the HUAWEI Watch 4 claims up to 3 days in Standard mode and up to 8 days in Ultra-long Battery Life mode. In our case, we usually get 2 days max but that’s because we’re using the health features frequently. Charging it to full only takes an hour and the watch is equipped with a graphene 3D heat dissipation system meaning it doesn’t get uncomfortably warm while charging.

To conclude, we like the HUAWEI Watch 4. It looks and works great and has the necessary health and activity features when we need it. Like HUAWEI’s other wearables, it supports iOS via the app but it still works better on Android, especially HUAWEI smartphones. At PHP 22,999 (Shopee), it’s pricey, but you can attribute that to the features loaded into it. But if it’s above the budget, don’t worry as HUAWEI has other models to choose from.
