The OPPO Watch X is one of the company’s newest devices to launch this year and it sits at the top of its current lineup of wearables. It’s a premium smartwatch powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen1, Wear OS by Google and a slew of fitness-centric features.
At first glance, the OPPO Watch X looks like your typical premium smartwatch. A screen on the front, a crown, and a multi-function button. It’s not a disadvantage, though, as most smartwatches almost feature the same look. However, you’ll notice that the design feels more refined once you have it on your hand and wrist.
The stainless steel case uses a combination of glossy and brushed metal finish. It has sharp corners at the lugs but smooth curves on the right where the crown and the multi-function button are found. The 2.5D sapphire crystal also curves to the edges for a seamless look.
The fluororubber quick-release strap curves at the end so it’s flush when attached to the lugs. Ours is the Mars Brown model which looks like a classy timepiece. If you want something sporty, the Platinum Black is the one to get. And if you’re wondering if it’s tough, it has IP68 (5ATM) water and dust resistance and passed MIL-STD-810H testing. Meaning it can withstand shocks, vibrations, low pressure, up to -40C and 70C temperatures.
The OPPO Watch X has a 1.43-inch OLED screen with a pixel density of 326ppi. It’s sharp, has punchy colors, great viewing angles, and a peak brightness of 1000 nits, so outdoor legibility shouldn’t be a problem.
Setup is easy to do via the OHealth app for Android. From here, you can download watch faces, access your data, and download apps directly from the Play Store. Since it’s powered by Google’s Wear OS, it has tighter integration to Google services such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Wallet. Connectivity-wise, we have WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 with support for Bluetooth calling (yes, you can take calls from your watch), dual-frequency GPS, and NFC.
When it comes to its health and fitness, it boasts sophisticated monitoring for your heart rate and sleep quality. For your heart, it uses a combo of 8-channel heart rate sensor and 16-channel blood oxygen sensor, and OPPO Sense self-developed algorithms to monitor your vital signs 24-7. This includes blood oxygen monitoring and stress monitoring with alerts. For your sleep, it uses multidimensional sleep monitoring, which uses data from your continuous blood oxygen, sleep respiratory rate, heart rate variability, and snoring, to provide you with a risk assessment for potential breathing problems during sleep.
Lastly, it supports 100+ sports modes with 6 types of automatic recognition (Running, Walking, Cycling, Swimming, Rowing machine, Elliptical machine). It even has an exclusive Badminton Mode that can record your every swing.
When it comes to battery life, the OPPO Watch X has a 500mAh battery which can last 2 days of heavy use or 4 days in smart mode. You can make it last up to 12 days in Power Saver Mode while still being able to access features like calling, controlling music, sleep monitoring, and still be able to use more than 15 apps, which is great. Charging to 100% only takes an hour using VOOC Flash Charging.
The OPPO Watch X is a premium smartwatch for those who want something with a timeless design yet packed with sophisticated health and fitness features and a bit of ruggedness. Having it run Wear OS by Google is also a big plus for those who are already in this ecosystem. This is a smartwatch I can recommend not just for OPPO smartphone users, but for other Android smartphone users as well.
The OPPO Watch X is priced at PHP 18,999. See the listing here: https://s.shopee.ph/8fAA7PZNEs
